Important red wine from Montepulciano grapes, hand-picked also when very mature, from the second week to the end of October. De-stemmed and pressed, it is laid in steel containers for 10-15 days for fermentative maceration. After racking, the wine undergoes natural malolactic fermentation. Part of the wine is aged in steel containers and another part aged in french oak barrells for about 18-24 months and is subsequently refined in bottles for six months.

Tasting notes and food-wine combinations

The color is a deep, ruby red, with typical dark violet reflections, and an aroma of mature cherry and little black fruits and an after taste of spices. The taste is well balanced in flavour, full-bodied and robust, but at the same time pleasantly fruity flavored with slight balsamic sensations and an aftertaste of licorice. Served at 16-18 °C, it is excellent with cold meats, mature cheeses, first courses and red meat.
